Minor Conflict Over Website Design Preferences

So, I’m working on my food blog, trying to make it look more appealing. I asked my friend for feedback on my layout and he totally trashed it, saying it's 'too busy' and 'not modern enough'. I get that everyone has their own taste, but I thought it was alright. It’s a food blog, not a minimalist art piece.

I suggested some changes based on his feedback, but honestly, I just want to showcase my Indian recipes and vibrant food pics. Am I being stubborn not to make drastic changes? Should I have just agreed with him or is it okay to stick to my own vision?
